Vitor Yano
Scholarship holder and PhD student in electrical engineering with focus on telecommunication systems at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas/UFPR, works on the topics image processing, biometrics and network management and will be doing research at THI until the middle of the first semester 2014
Together with his co-researcher at THI, Dennis Böhmländer, they published a joint paper in October 2014, which was presented at the International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems 2014 in Qingdao, China:
"My experience so far has been consistently good. Everyone involved in the project is very helpful and competent with regard to the program. THI is a relatively small university; the infrastructure is very advanced for this purpose. Also in general, the urban development is very modern and the streets are clean. During my stay here I noticed that people attach importance to separating work and leisure time and that the economic inequality is lower than in my home country. I think that the Germans are more conservative than the Brazilians. I recommend that new students look for accommodation from Brazil as early as possible. Learning German before arrival is helpful, but not essential".
