On 15th and 18th of November 2021, the first International AI@motion Network Conference took place successfully!

As part of the DAAD-funded project AI@motion International, researchers and companies with a focus on AI and Mobility met in person at THI and online for our very first hybrid conference.

For two days there were various opportunities and formats for participants to get to know each other and talk about their own research fields and ideas - with the aim of building a regional and international network on artificial intelligence.

On Monday, AI researchers of THI presented their projects and regional company representatives presented their work during a regional networking event and poster session. Visitors from EDAG, evocortex, Pinette PEI, and TrajectoriX as well as Brazilian researchers who visited THI for the network conference took the possibility to get in contact with our THI researchers and each other.

On Thursday, the focus was on international networking, especially with partners in Brazil and China. Along with AI researchers from THI, we had great international speakers like Research in Bavaria and our partner universities in China – from South China University of Technology (SCUT) – and Brazil – from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), Federal University of Pará (UFPA).

Another special presentation was the live demonstration of the robot Turtlebot that drives with voice commands. The winners of our first AI@motion Challenge - Bruno Souza and Lucas Correa de Assis and their supervisor Prof. Roberto Zanetti Freire from Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) - travelled to THI specifically for this occasion, worked on the Turtlebot and implemented their own software to it.

Some of the international speakers got funded by our project AI@motion International to visit us at THI for a week to participate in person at our Network Conference and meet the regional companies and THI researchers.

If you want to find out more about our international AI Mobility network and how you can come to THI to meet our AI researchers, read about the project AI@motion International here.

The conference was part of the International AI Science Week at THI, with events regarding the 1st anniversary of the AI mobility hub "AImotion Bavaria" and talks for interested citizens within our basci.net events.
