The German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH) is part of a global Network of five Centres coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). With the opening of the DWIH São Paulo in 2012, as an initiative of its Federal Foreign Office, Germany has given an important step towards its almost 50-year-long ties with Brazilian partners.
DWIH São Paulo promotes not only visibility to the German innovation points, but also to synergies and exchange between research and innovation institutions of both countries – specially in São Paulo, the biggest centre of Brazilian research and German companies outside the country. A place of strong German immigration, the city is home to educational, cultural and economic foundations and scientific institutions, as well as numerous German companies and agencies, which deal with exchange and cooperation between the two countries. The proximity between DWIH São Paulo and the German-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Brazil) favors the contact between research institutions and German companies in Brazil.
