German-Brazilian research cooperation in the energy sector – NoPa 2.0
The aim of the project is to establish a research network in the area of solar-powered storage systems based on second-life batteries from automotive applications. These storage solutions can be used especially in the remote areas that do not yet have electricity connection and are therefore particularly suitable for settlements in the Amazon region. For the development of such systems, a number of multidisciplinary research questions, such as the remaining service life, the system reliability or the economic and ecological potential, need to be solved. For this purpose, an already existing cooperation between THI and UFSC will be used and strengthened by other Brazilian and German universities.
