Towards an intensification of cooperation: The delegation from Brazil at THI

Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences welcomed a high-ranking delegation from the Research Foundation of São Paulo (FAPESP) and the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Innovation of São Paulo. This heralded a new era of international cooperation in applied cutting-edge research.

The visit was attended by high-ranking representatives from both institutions, including Professor Marco Antonio Zago, President of FAPESP, and Professor Vahan Agopyan, State Secretary for Science, Technology and Innovation. THI President Professor Walter Schober and the institute directors of CARISSMA, AImotion and InES provided insights into their research areas.

One milestone was the joint discussion of research priorities, which led to the definition of an initial call for proposals. Investments totalling €200,000 are planned for this collaboration, which will be announced in June. The call aims to promote breakthroughs in AI in the fields of mobility and production technologies, energy technologies and vehicle safety research, including research into advanced battery systems and passive and active safety systems.

The meeting ended with the signing of a framework agreement that paves the way for a fruitful partnership between Bavaria and São Paulo and promises significant contributions in the fields of mobility, energy and safety research. "This is a historic moment for our work," emphasised Anne-Sophie Kopytynski, Managing Director of the AWARE Centre. “São Paulo is the centre of cutting-edge research in Brazil and FAPESP can complement our research projects with a large budget.”
