Leonardos Research Stay at THI in 2023

Leonardo Barbosa da Silva - From Brazil to Germany, Advancing in Vehicular Engineering!

Meet Leonardo Barbosa da Silva, a remarkable Brazilian Master's Degree exchange student whose journey took him from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in Brazil to the Technical University of Ingolstadt (THI) in Germany through the prestigious #enGlobe program - engineers go global. Leonardo's story is an inspiring tale of ambition, dedication, and seizing opportunities to excel in the field of electrical engineering.

During his exchange at THI, Leonardo actively engaged in various courses, honing his expertise in key subjects such as "Automotive Electronics", "Artificial Intelligence and Automotive Systems", and "Mathematical Modeling and Simulation”. This immersion in advanced academic content allowed him to acquire specialized skills. As part of the #enGlobe program's scholarship, Leonardo was not just there to attend courses but also to conduct research related to his master’s degree program and thesis.

His passion for vehicular wireless networks and communication systems led him to collaborate with distinguished researchers Prof. Christian Facchi and Silas Correia Lobo from the renowned CARISSMA Research Institute. Together, they delved into the intriguing topic of "QoS for Channel Overloaded by VAMs and the Safety Impact on a dense VRU environment" in the Car2X Laboratory.

Leonardo's journey did not stop with his exchange semester. He saw the immense value in furthering his knowledge in this specialized field, and so, he took the bold step of applying for a master’s double degree program between UFPR and THI. His commitment and achievements were duly recognized, and he was successfully approved for the program earlier this year. With the combined support of both UFPR and THI, Leonardo is now actively developing his Master Thesis, focusing on the potential benefits of VAM Clustering for Vulnerable Road User safety, a subject with vast implications for the future of vehicular engineering.

Leonardo's journey exemplifies the power of international exchange programs, dedication to academic pursuits, and the drive to make a meaningful impact in one's chosen field. You can find out more about #enGlobe research opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/d6EgkMG
