Just in time for the opening of the AWARE Center, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) and its long-term strategic partner Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) have re-signed their double degree agreement. The agreement regulates the double degree between the Master Program International Automotive Engineering of THI and the Master Program Electrical Engineering or alternatively Mechanical Engineering of UFPR. This renewed their agreement which was first signed in 2015.
The English language Master Program International Automotive Engineering is carried out by the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the faculty of Computer Sciences and has the goal of providing in-depth training for students in the field of vehicle mechatronic systems. Students qualifying for the double degree spend the first semester in their respective home country, the second and third semester in the county of the partner university. German and Brazilian students are prepared for current challenges in international automotive development through more project-oriented and interdisciplinary examination subjects.
The program offers structures and financing for research cooperation between professor of THI and UFPR, students are enabled to gather international experience and to deepen the acquired theoretical knowledge from Brazil in a use case at THI. So far, nearly 20 graduates completed their studies with a double degree of both partner universities.
The AWARE Center (Bavarian Center for Applied Research and Technology with Latin America) was officially opened in February 2020 and emerged from the research network of the same name between THI and Brazilian Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) and Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). In addition to Argentina and Colombia the network will now also be expanded to further Latin American countries and the USA and will furthermore be opened to Bavarian Universities. In this context further double degree programs are planned.
